Last weekend I did a time trial track day.

Tires are toast but I had a good time. The car was actually faster than the last time I competed there.

On track starts at minute 6

Nice work. 👍
Some say that Rally is more of a rush than Drag. That's hard to say. 🙂
I use to have one of those rear view mirrors on my B210. 🙂

Amazing video showing the massive torque of Tom's A12 powerplant consistently overpowering the tires he has under it. Reminds me of the Porsche 917-30 CanAm racer...the lads had to dial down the hp and still the driver could spin it's massive steamroller tires at will, in any gear, at any speed. Go Pokey!

Nice. Sounds like an angry hornet. about how many RPM does it max out on the long straight?

a few observations:
* Arai GP-5W helmet
* stock-looking gearshift lever
* factory floor mats
* aluminum full-width dash
* aluminum door panels
* full-width rearview mirror
* 3-spoke steering wheel (2-holes each spoke)
* racing outside mirrors (short but wide)
* looks like the mountains outside Las Vegas?
* six metal tabs holding windshield down?
* When cornering, the gearshift knob moves over to the side

Nifty looking laser cut shift pattern bolted to the dash also! Where can I get an F5C56A version of this?

good to see the old work pony doing its thing, so analog and raw skating and poking around the track

Dave,

I bought the Arai helmet when I started driving a single seat car again. The gear knob is indeed the stock one, there are no floor matts in the car (that's probably foam pad for Rally passenger's feet).

The motor is only pulling just shy of 7000rpm in 4th. I'm pulling 8000 RPM in 3rd between turns 1 and 2.

The windshield clips are required per the rulebook (if you go backwards at highspeed it keeps the windshield in the car).

As for the gearshift.............it really flopped around before I replaced the bushings.

D at the most recent Porsche CLub track day I instructed at I ended up driving a late model 911. I joked with the owner (who races a 944) that the car was too nice and too composed.

He said he preferred running the 944 as a track car because it was so analog.

While my formula car is really cool to drive the Datsun is just so much fun because it is so raw.

He was being very gentle with the car.

As you know I drive a lot of new cars; in November I drove the latest 911.it's a phenomenal car but I'd rather drive a 70s or 80s 911.
