You are thinking of the Solex's.No, a 32/36 came on Ford 2300 engines for a while.I know of some guys who put a 32/36 on his Manta. My first car was
a 1900 Sedan.

I have only seen the 2-bbl Holly on the 2.3 Ford and that is what I have on Mareo Speedwagon VI. The two Opal GTs that I have had had weber 2-bbl carbs on them, that is until we
put the 289 Ford 4-speed in the one GT then it had a 700 Holly 4-bbl.

Mareo

The Holley 5200 is the same carb as the 32/36 with parts interchanging. The weber is just more popular
with the public.

Well it is holley's fault, all they advertise and relate themselves to is the american V8 engines. Their promotional department is either totally inadecuate or else they do
not really care about anything but V8's
For that reason ,I do not even take Holley into account,no suport,no tech info, leave it for the gas burners.
Good Day!

Yeah, the holly on my 1200 is not user friendly. The jets are not easily accessable. The only reason that I have it is the throttle shaft wore out on the A14 carb and it would not idle. I got
the Holly kit for a b210 for $25 on eBay. The hood is much closer to the carb on the 1200 than the b210 so getting an air filter was a hassle. I finally made one up that sits on the fender
well and is hosed to the carb. At least it idles, LOL. The car still gets 65 MPG putting around in 5th gear. I wish I had a couple of SU carbs on it. I love those carbs but they take having an
Air Density Meter to tune them to the day. Finely tuned SUs are good and torque through all ranges of driving power. I learned those carbs on the 140 Jag and a couple of Triumph TR4's I had in
the 60s. A lot of people don't like them but I was taught the fine details of tuning them from a friend that was factory trained in England. He taught me carbs better than anyone. Hopefully,
someday I will get the SUs for my 1200.

As I was reading a book on weber carbs, there is a section that briefly but efficiently talks about SU's. These are good carburators, you are right, most people do
not understand them, probably thinking these SU's are weird, nothing further from the truth,it is just a different system, once understood(dynamics)it is easier to
trust them.
Not to mention,a lot of people know what they have on hand and enjoy them. How nice to have a pair of brand new ones.
Have fun.

Gotta say SU's are heaps better than downdraft carbies - if you don't mind some of the concerns about tuning them, which is actually really easy with the right tools once you know
how.

Motorbikes are only really now moving to fuel injection and have been using SU carbies (under slightly different names) for years. The SU carbies are effectively a way better design
than any downdraft carby, and are self regulating for fuel and air flow.

Generally the benefits are: more power, better fuel economy, better throttle response than standard carbies. A simple example is the L24 from the 210 series (240C AND 240Z). 240Z's
had anout 15% better power just from this change alone over the standard single carby.

2 beats 1. And 4 beats 2. Anyone got some Hayabusa carbies they can spare?
