Can anybody reccommend a good mild cam for the street? Any sources out there as well? My engine is a bit noisy in the valve train and I'm thinking its cam or lifters or both. I had a cam ground by a local specialist, but he didnt have any datsun specs to work with. We went with Triumph TR3 stage 2 specs, but I think theres better options out there.

My cam is aparently ground to ford sierra cosworth rally specs. Not sure what that is, but is damn lumpy.
Now that I think of it, this aint much help, sorry.

I have a reasonably streetable can, But as it came out of a secondhand motor I don't have the specs. But if you like I can go see the guys who ground it and ask them for the specs, them send them to you. The motor it was in pushed a 1200 coupe up to 115 MPH with big flows , a five speed and a hitachi carb! Would have gone harder with a bigger carb(s)

Have a look at Wade Cams They have a nice selection of cams for us.

Another one isTighe cams

Wades 112 profile looks to be a GX replacement, while the 104 profile should also work quite well.

The Tighe 102 profile looks to be their version of the GX replacement cam, while the 113 is described as "mild road" & the 154 is the 'fast road" version. All of these cams will give their best with better carbs & exhaust, but do not need dual webbers.

At this time i look like using the Wade 104 in my "improved" GX, while Tighe advertise that they can supply cams ground on new blanks. The Wade 104 has reasonably modest specs, but a healthy amount of lift at the valve, so it will breathe deeply at all road speeds without much rump rump [if any]

Look at the specs for both, then make an informed choice.

Remember that your US dollar buys more in Australia.

Thats some great info. Thanks guys. I am running twin 1 1/2" SU carbs stainless 3 angle valves in a stock GX head on my A15 motor. I plan on getting a header. I have springs already. This car is strictly for the street. I need to keep up with the crazy LA drivers! Im leaning towards the Wade #240 cam. Have you heard anything about it?

My cam specs seem to line up with the Wade 140. LOL, in an A12.
It idles at around 1800 rpm. I can get over 30 mpg if I'm carefull. This cam is a little too big.
This is the first time I've seen a list of cams for the A series with their recommended applications.

myko2, with that setup you already have you should have no problem keeping up witrh LA drivers. What do you have exhaust wise? My A15 was pretty happy to exceed the flow of traffic and the weber carb really helped.

Exhaust at this time is stock as a rock. Cast iron manifold, single box. I'd like to find a GX manifold or go with a header.
