Was offered a set of twin 45mm webbers for $550. They need a kit thru em, but are alright aparently. I looked at the new price and it hovers around $600 each!!

Just wondering if its worth the risk for $550?

if you get a carb that needs tuning, it's probably worth taking it to a shop and having it tuned, because obtaining the assorted sizes of jets can quicly get more expensive than their tining fee. I know I just bought a bunch of jets for a dgav and am wondering if I should have just gotten it tuned at the shop down the street.

i as planning on using twin su carbs on my a15/14. Its pl;an is ported head, big valves, nasty cam. Simimilar to my currrent a12, but with an a15.

Some of the guys here are using twin setups like this, and havent heard any bad comments. webers seem to be eaiser to get a hold of parts wise, and more poeple know abou them it seems. 45s seem a bit big, but they could always be jetted down right??

I could always just use one of them, and selll the other as well, if to ends up too much. That way i guess that i could get some of the money back.

45 is the size of the throttle bores. More importantly is the size of the venturis inside. The 45 can be obtained with various size venturis, the largest would probably be too big for an A15, the smallest just right. It's just a guess though, the Weber book by Haynes has charts and graphs for sizing.

spoke to 120dat about his twin setup and he talked about using chokes. This just restricts the air flow to a more useable speed right. So If i choked it down and jetted down, that would do help with the possible problem of bad air speed?
I am gonna get the specs all done by the pros , so no guesing on my behalf there.

45's should be good for a hot 1600...
You can get better results with a larger carby choked down to where you need it, than pushing the choke sizes out in a smaller carb...

eg, I ran 45's on a quite nasty 1300, with (i think) 36mm chokes...it was a while ago now!!
You could put 36mm chokes in a 40DCOE, but you loose a lot of the venturi effect (you only get a reduction from 40mm to 36mm, whereas with 45DCOE's you get a reduction of 45mm to 36mm..

Of course you dont want to go silly, 45's on a stock engine would be a waste of effort....

I say grab em, there are plenty of parts around for webers, and they dont flood on left hand hairpins like delorto's do...
