I'm with you L18.......if it was safe to do it..... you wouldn't have to wear a helmet at a track day.

motorkhana...autocross...shall I go on? There's heaps of options open to you to do this legally and safely. I think the real issue is, you just want to go out and hoon around whenever its raining...

I can see both sides of the story,
If your going to go out and drive around dangerously and put ppls lives at risk then your an idiot.
But if your being safe about it then do what you want, its your money when you pay the stunting ticket.
Go do that #### out in the industrial section of town late at night on a quiet road.

Thats what I would do so that I wouldnt kill anyone or get a ticket.

We have an event up here in Lethbridge once a year called "street machine weekend" 100footer, show and shine, cruise, drifting.
On the cruise night there is always a new layer of rubber on the main cruise strip in town. The residents dont seem to mind, actually they encourage it. "LIGHT EM UP!" they shout... I had to just turn up my stereo becuase I'm driving a Civic with $200 tires

When I was in Fresno California in 1999, I noticed they had signs up that said something like "No Cruising..$125 fines apply". I laughed about how this would ruin half of Sydney's 17-18 year olds "night life".

collie is about 2 hours from my house south and i am already 1 hour out of the cbd so to go there for a day event it sorta warrants a weekend trip. on top of that most of the other datto boys i catch up with live 1 hour north of the CBD so 4 hours drive to throw their car artound in the wet instead of a bit o fun when it rains then hey go for it. i am not saying people should be driving crazy on the roads but a bit of traction loss here and there for breif moments never hurt anyone. if you want to go do a big burnout then i say do it a t a venue where people can see your talent and you can do it legally, but wheelspin in the wet in moderation can't hurt that much.....

My mum lives near a high school, and every wet day all the punk kids from it peel out at three oclock. (screwing the arse off their stone cold engines) Only because their sh1tbox cars can't do it in the dry. I'm sure they mean no harm, but after a while you get sick of the noise. Threre is a rest home across the road, and another one two doors down. Having to see out your final years in a home putting up with that racket would be a form of torture. When I was younger and still living there, my mates and I used to make heaps of noise. Blotting out the street with tyre smoke, revving the hell out of rotories, revving up V8s with little or no exhuast at all hours of the day and night.
But know I'm "grown up" and know better.
People who live on busy roads must go insane from the automotive ruccas, and even more so in the wet. I once parked my mums car on it's roof in a river , on a wet snowy day ( we had to swim out the windscreen which broke when we rolled) so now days, I have respect for wet weather.
If you have ever had a crash, and wished afterwards that you hadn't done whatever caused it, then don't lose sight of that feeling when the roads are wet. Driving sensibily is MUCH easier that un destroying your car, or unhurting/unkilling one of your mates or someone else.
If you can't (or wont) participate in a legal event, then be sure that if something goes awry noone is going to get hurt. And don't underestimate what a good datto can do. A mate of mines cousin won a burnout comp with a tweaked 1400 and a locked diff in a 1200 sedan. He beat V8s and all! even though he overrevved and broke his flywheel bolts. If you are going to play the fool on the steet, keep your brain in gear at all times.

I love the rain too. Its great for the garden, water supply, farmers, environment etc.

In fact, the only downside is that it brings out all the idiots in their underpowered cars

I DREAD the rain,... in urban areas particularly.

Around here, in fact everywhere that i have spent any time, the rain brings out the wankers who think that they can drive,...[but can't] in cars that would not pass a registration inspection, either as a result of ill advised modifications, or because they can't afford, or don't know how, to maintain them.
I have not been hit by one of these dicks yet, but i have seen them at work, & i have been one or two cars away from the collisions that they have been involved in on about three or four occasions.

The sad part is that if the car is modified, & they do not tell the insurance company, then it's possible that the insurance is void. That means that the poor unsuspecting victim has to fix their own car, then sue the crap out of the person responsible.

Interestingly, i have noticed that, for many, the more confidant they are about their driving prowess, the more likely they are to come unglued in a big way. Big ego, little ability.

Perhaps we should addopt a new attitude to these uninsured dipsticks.
Perpetrators accosted, survivors sued.
