rod lengths on the L16 and L24 are the same. Ealry L16 and L24 rods used 8mm bolts, and later ones use 9mm which is highly desirable for a performance motor.

L24 and L16 also share the same bore, and later L24E (fuel injected) engines use a flat top piston with valve reliefs that would raise your compression.

The larger factory sized valves are about as big as you'll ever need to go on an L16; 44mm In, 35mm Ex. Any competant engineer will be able to modify your valve seats to suit the larger valves.

Spring choice is dependant on cam profile rather than what valve you use. There's a number of manufacturers in US and Aus that cater for the L series, so it comes down to what available locally for you, or if you're able to mail order some stuff from elsewhere.

i found a L20b in a rusted out datsun
not sure de model but it left hand drive
so i think it was made for the US market
is it possible for me bore my 16 and fit L20b
pistons,con rods and crankshaft

where can i find over size valves for the l16
a web site would be useful
or even a price in US

why not just swap the blocks and be done with it?

if i use the l20b block i would be in a big group at the local track
and i am still learning
when i use the l16 block i would be in a smaller group
so i want to know if i would encounter any problems

it is possible to modify an L20B crank to fit the L16 block, but there's alot of machine work involved and it will be costly. Main journals are larger on the L20 crank, and I think counterweights need machining. And to get a suitable rod/stroke ratio, it will also need to be slightly destroked as well.

You can't simply use all the L20 bottom end in the L16 block, as the L20 block is about 3/4" taller to accommodate the longer stroke and longer rods.

I think you should just use the L20 block as previously suggested.

i spoke to my mechanic
so i think we r just going to bore the l16 to 85mm
two 40s
head work and a cam
which cam do u recomend to use
i am thinking of a 3/4 race cam

do u know the hp and torque of theof the l20b
