What after market brands are good quality?
I know of Bosch and that's about it.
I also noticed the price of Bosch, are you getting what you've paid for?
Who uses what and how good was it?

Bosch is very good.
My other car (Volkswagen) has a complete bosch electronic fuel injection system.
No problems. Actually all volkswagens in south africa of the 80's and 90's and possibly still in production have bosch fuel injection systems.
I know of quite a few that have far over 300 000km with the same original fuel pump still running.
I will reccomend Bosch.

LUCAS? You mean Joseph Lucas, the prince of darkness?
Why do the Brits drink warm beer. They all got Lucas fridges.

If you want to know about Lucas quality, just ask anyone who has had to maintain British cars & motorcycles.

Hella make a fine range of electrical components. They are not cheap components, but like Bosch, they are top quality & after 37 years of using this brand, i will still confidently recomend them.

Bosch is great stuff if you can afford it. Cant go past Bosch motorsport pumps etc. I wouldnt reccommend their brake pads tho, I thought they were a little poor, might have been the car tho. I still prefer NGK plugs to Bosch (little difference). Top Gun make great leads, hmm, ACL make good gaskets. Are we talking hard parts?

For those who are not in on the joke, the Joseph Lucas company had a small round medalion on most of the lights that the company produced, right from the early days in the teens, up untill the fifties or so. It has a symbol in the middle of, from memory, a flaming torch, you know, like an Olympic torch. Around the edge it had the words "Juseph Lucas. King of the road.

Unfortunately Lucas reliability was not legendary, it wasn't even mediocre, & breakdowns were not uncommon, leaving one in the dark, so the "King of the road" became the "Prince of Darkness"

Some of the Lucas designs had well & truly outworn their usefullness, but the last thing that the company would do would be to revise & improve the product. It defeats me how they have remained in business for so long, & they have been the butt of industry derision & jokes for many decades.
