It is not all that big a job to do IF....
You have a suitably equiped workshop available
You have a reasonable knowledge of mechanics & have the ability to do much the work yourself.
You know where to get the work done that you are unable to do yourself
You have enough money to pay for it all
You are prepared to pay for, & go through the engineering inspection if you plan to run this on the street.

You may well need to upgrade suspension & brake systems too, & fitting the trans may require some body surgery in the trans tunnel area, so perhaps it might be better to start out small by maintaining the car untill you learn how it all works, then have a good look at conversions that have been done by others to see what works best.

This way you learn from other peoples mistakes. Saves a lot of grief that way.

Oh yeah, the engine in series 1 & 2 Bluebirds are of the "L" series family, & the 2 liter is an L20. There was an earlier six cylinder version of the L series in 2 liter, so the four cylinder version became correctly known as the "L20b" engine as it was the second L20 engine design.

All good advice. We sometimes forget that not everyone knows what we know..

I sometimes forget what I know..

an l20 will be a pain in the rear because they are fairly tall, try and swap the bluebird for a 180B as the L18 are 20mm shorter and then use the 180B engine crossmember with the extra hole on either side of the chasis to bolt it up. all bolts up like it was ment to be there.

it will fit easily in the 120y - they have a massive trans tunnel and were released with L series engines in other markets.

You should be able to find lots of info on this swap if you use the search function, as its been discussed a few times before.

I have it on pretty good authority that the Stanza x-member should fit too, which would suit the L20 sump/dipstick location. Take your trusty measuring stick to your local wrecker and see for yourself. Otherwise use the 180B x-member and sump on the L20, and you'll have to modify the dipstick location on the L20 block.

We are talking about the L20 Bluebird, and not the horrible SIII Bluebird CA20 motor aren't we?
