im new to this site and want to show of my little baby but wont load up my avatar.

I think its to big a file but how can i compress this ?

What type of file is it? Try to save the picture you want to upload as a '.jpg'. this will reduce the file size considerably and should get it under the 15000 bytes limit. the actual size of the picture also has to be no more than 120 X 120 pixels, so keep an eye on that also. Hope that solves the problem and welcome to the site mate. Look forward to seeing your creation soon.

I have one that is 80x110 but its like 128059 bytes. Its awesome and I want to know how to edit it, I'd love to have it up on here.

i think the 15000 total bytes limit is ridiculous. it allows you to either have a tiny photo or a really poor quality avatar. admins, is it posible to up it to 25k-30k bytes? i know its only an avatar, but alotta people like having good ones. thats my 2cents anyway

30kb...are you kidding? Every page read would be 400kB. Lets consider modem people for a moment..4kB/sec ..100seconds for the page to load...wow what fun that would be...

It's all in the colour depth and JPG quality.

actually chris that is a really good point. i spose you get over the avatar pretty quickly after you have seen it once..
