How much should i be expectin 2 pay on insurance on a 1981 datsun ute with a15 with twin su;s cam extractors????Im turnin 19 soon!!!, Just curious how much it will jump up from a a12 with just extractors!!!
So far already i have spent $700 on the a15 conversion an the engines not even in. That 700 bucks includes the engine, 1500 radiator and radiator service. ow well hopefully it will cost under $1200 to have it all up and goin and engineered!!!

Being young just sux for insurance.

As it is modified and more than 20 years old, no normal insurance people will cover you. NRMA will just laugh at you.

You will need to look at car specialty insurance like "just cars", torque, "young and cool", maybe Shannons (mainly for old farts with triumphs)

1200 for conversion costs is not too bad. I would probably have modified an A12 to the hilt to avoid insurance hassles.

You've got a nice car, so I guess you'll be looking for full comprehensive. May not be less than $600/yr.

What're you expecting to pay for engineering?

When ringing Shannons it helps if you are a member of a CAMS car club. Also depends on what day you ring, who you get, whether they have had any etc. The first time I rung about my datto the answer was no as it was turbo and I was under 25. The next time I rang no problem. $550...thanks for coming. I am still under 25. Go figure.

I'm with Shannons. It only cost me $500 a year but I'm 30 years of age. The age thing may cause an increase in price but at least you will be insured. The groups such as NRMA will laugh at you, so I think Shannons will be your best option. Give them a call or they have an office in Fyshwick that you can visit.

I just got full comprehensive insurance on my ute which is standard except for wheels & front disc brakes.

I am 33 and I got it through Suncorp for $290. Age, modifications, where you live and the companies exposure to the type of car you want to insure are all factors that they consider when giving you a quote.
