we've all seen it, 1200s and corollas with 13x9 hurricanes or watanabes or pansports and SLAMMED on their guts.

how do they get them this low? do they use coilovers up front? what about the leaves at the back? or are they changed to another type of setup (fourlink? trailing arm?) ?

and more importantly - where can i get a set of hurricanes?

dude, you can get 1200's low, easy as pie, especially with 13"s, sheesh all you have to do is flip the back leaf springs and if you wan to do the front then take the springs out....(aha you thought i was leaving it at that)....like i said take the springs out, take them to a suspension shop and get them to take a few coils out, put em back in, tada..either that or take the leaves to the suspension shop also and ask them to flatten and compress them (legal that way)

as for the front take 3 coils out of the spring and use 1981 nissan pulsar inserts and cut 75 mm out of the top of the strut tube then its low lol as for the back , on a coupe and sedan if u do turn the main leaf over well the works great but it dont work on a ute because of the way the springs are mounted on the front that a reset job for sure

i'm actually talking about workable and driveable solutions here.

given that a car that low would have troubles on a bumpy road, but reversing the leaf springs is going to load them up wrong and could do more harm than 'good'. surely a 4link setup with coilovers would be a better option...? then again, the japanese do some crazt 5hit.

cutting the front springs by 3 coils would require shortened stroke shocks. so for that money you could go coilovers.

definitely something i'm going to look into. thanks for the reply fellas. anyone here actually know HOW they're set so low? i mean, flat leaf springs will only take you so far - is there anyone on here from the land of the rising sun who's poked around under these cars?

edit - thought - 2in lowering blocks AND lowered leaves will get you UBER low...

South yokohama leafs

And usually coilovers on the front. But they also sell front springs.

okay i see now. i just wish babelvista could comprehend grammar!!!

thanks for the link there. it seems that form over function is the issue, so regardless of if it works or not, it looks good.

airbags are fine and good for the IRS brigade, but i'm wondering about what they do to make the leaves work so low - or if they use leaves at all and convert to a coilover / trailing arm setup.
but lowering blocks and lowered leaves would get things pretty low - but only as far as the bumpstops.
