I was wondering if an engine that knocks on steering box/brake bits might trick a knock sensor into thinking the engine is pre-igniting and then backs off the advance to stop the
mistaken pinging? I'm trying to track down why my engine CA18DET, seems to have a bit of a vibration down low..I should passenger in Andrews 1200, that'd let me know what a CA18DET in a
1200 should sound like. Any Ideas?
Chris

It might. I've heard that simply replacing a timing chain with a gear-drive will throw off an engine computer with
a knock sensor.

Good God!
Do you mean that your engine is hitting your steering box and brakes
(master cylinder, vaccumn, lines?).
If this is so, then you have a much more serious problem than vibration.

Tell me what happens when your brakes and steering fail.

Hey Chris your welcome to take a ride in the 1200 its fairly noisey inside I wear earplugs on long trips mainly because there is no interior and a droning 3" exhuast.Down low my car does
not make any funny noises it pulls from idle fairly hard nothing hits on engine though!!! I though your engine cleared everything it sits slightly higher than mine???Another thing is I
disconected them low end shut off half intake thingos when i had inlet off i took the complete butterflies out it seemed to have a small stumbe until I had it tuned now it just grunts has
good induction noise too before boost comes up.
PS: I have decided not to go to the creek as its forcast for continued rain not worth 3 hr drive for no racing suppose I could terrorise the locals :)

I was just wondering if anyone knew what the fuel float vent lines hooked up to on the top of the fuel bowls??? Do they hook up to the fuel return lines that go back to the gas
tank? Or maybe the air cleaners? Would the car runt the same if I left them unattached? Almost got this beast running good, just a few fine adjustments I think.

I bought a import gx engine from Japan with SU's. it had to vent lines that came off the carbs and went down to bottom of the block they vented to fresh air they were pretty much
just a over flow tubes to vent the carbs and prevent flooding. Bob
