I know 1200's aren't the most popular tow car, but does anyone have of of these lying around they dont want in the SE Qld area? Do they even make them for 1200's?

If anyone car help me out, please reply!

Thanks!

yes they exist for 1200 coupes and they work quite well.
ive had a new main bar put in it (repaired my broken one) but have not seen it myself. Should have it back sooon on the still damaged coupe. someone sell me some panels !

i had a quote it was around $450 to have a new one put on. dont know if they had supplies or if they were going to custom build one. just some popular towbar place down brookvale way.

also ive been told the amount you can tow is 3/4 of what your car weights + 10% of its total weight. any1 correct that ? i dont know if its right.

In american wording, a towbar is something that you bolt to the front a car so the can be towed. The same towbar is used for a coupe or sedan (the entire front of 1200 coupe and 1200 sedan -- including bumper -- is identical). The photo shows what we call a tow hitch.

Do these words have different meanings in Australian?

The whole structure that you call a tow hitch, is what we call a "towbar"
I have always thought the "hitch" part was just the "gooseneck" or tongue part, complete with towball.

I ran one on my 1000 sedan & i regard them as almost a necessity. I too was involved in a low speed rear end shunt where the offenders vehicle came off second best. My 200B has one too, but i have never seen one on a 1000 coupe, so this one may miss out.

Yeah they are around. I had one on my coupe but took it off for cosmetics. I am a bit worried about the rear end shunt thing as the towbar does save a car heaps.
