Yes, NOS is a brand name, but i believe it is also a generic name for any nitrous oxide system used on a car, whether it be an NX system, Venom system or whatever.

The same way computers are called Engine Management Systems, and there is also a brand called EMS, which stands for Engine Management Systems.

Now that the confusion is cleared up, back to the original topic....just put the NOS on and see what happens...a12's are cheap!!!!!

just wondering if there is a difference between nos kits for injected and carby cars? ive fitted nos on efi cars only and we had to ensure that the fuel pump supply was enough to ensure it didnt lean out . will a carby car with a standard fuel pump supply enough fuel? and do you need a different nozzle arangement?

There is a differenence depending on the setup,

I have a fogger nos kit in my car as i have twin delortos as you need an injector for each barrel for best efficiency. for hollys etc there is a plate that you install under the carb. and for efi you inject into the fuel rail.

you also need to retard the spark when using to optimise detonation otherwise you will get almost no improvement.

and if you have a manual fuel pump you may find that it will not supply enough fuel for a decent injection on n20.

the bet way to run it is through a decent ignition computer electronic ignition and an electric fuel pump like a holly blue.

You only have to retard maximum total advance about 2 degrees for every 50 hp of (EDIT Nitrous Oxide for the Pedants ) on an L series. This is providing the A/F ratio is kept at about 13:1 during the shot.

Good fun on little bangers, but watch the bearings dont hammer out from detonation during setup!

The only people referring to nitrous oxide as "NAAAWWWS" before or after that poor excuse for a car enthusiast movie are hopelessly clueless.

Yep, in the 80's we always called it "nitrous", and NOS was a brand name (and still is, see NOS).

I never heard anyone call it generically "NOS" except for people reading the NOS stickers on the side of a car ... although I do recognize that nowadays people and companies are using it generically. However, the commercial enterprises might possibly face legal action for misusing Holley's trademark.

It's very much like the misuse of the name "Coke". Yeah, you might call any brand of cola a "coke", and people will usually know what you mean ... but to other people they want a Pepsi and definitely not a Coke, so they are careful to state exactly what they want.
