I had problems like these on My Nissan GTX and 1200 delux,
So lets try and help.

-Is your radiator clean, if not use some flush,

-Does this car cool down after going downhill on neutral gear, for a little while?

-Does she heat only on short runs?
-Does she heat if you stomp on the pedal for a long strectch of road?

-Does she heat up whilst idling?

-Does any of your water pipes has major bends on it, which is restricting water flow.

-Does the water in your radiator circulate faster as you increase revs.

BTW , the mazda 323s radiator is good enough for cooling the datto

ok im keen 2 figure out the problem 2

The radiator is definately cleam and good as i got it all redone just before the engine went in!!

Yes the car does cool down when going down a hill idling, but only slightly

No it doesnt heat on short runs

Yes it does gradually heat up on a long stretch of road with the pedal on the floor

It sits under halfway when idling

No major bends in pipe

There is good circulation in the radiaotor, but i have not checked it at revs!!

Hope this is enough info.
Thanks 4 the help

Yes It cools down incredibly slightly but still does
No bends in pipe..
Radiator is flowing ok before i put it in i flushed it out with a high pressure hose and it was fine...
Doesnt heat on short runs just when i get to about 70 odd k it creeeeeps up on me!
And yes my radiator levels go up under revs, im pretty sure its got the right PSI under neath the cap but i have givein it a compression test...

Any thoughts??
I reckon its circulation or blocked up ####ee lines around block......

I have inherited A series motors which haven't run anti corrosion fluid all their life and the impeller blades on the water pump have practically rusted away. It's a long shot but if you are unsure of the history of your motor or water pump I'd be checking that eventually. The reduced flow can lead to over heating.

maybe one of the more experienced can answer this but is air bubbles (cavitation?????? not sure if this is the term) common in the A series motors?, If so this may be the problem with the radiator hose sucking closed.

Someone tell me if I am just talking out of my arse here!!!

Just because the radiator looks like it is flowing doesn't mean it is cooling properly. Part of the core could be blocked with gunk. Flushing with a hose will not clean it out. It needs to be done under pressure by a radiator shop. I had a similar problem a couple of years ago and a proffessional flush solved the problem.

Let me get this straight. The bottom hose sucks in on itself if you bring the revs up a fair bit,... or is it sucked closed in the morning when it is cold?

The bottom hose is the one on the suction side of the pump & if it sucks closed when in use it is because the coolant can't flow into the pump as quickly as the pump wants it. This will cause cavitation at higher revs, but in this case, it is a symptom, & not a problem of itself.

The coolant that flows into the pump comes from the radiator & if the pump needs more than the radiator can supply, then the radiator is likely to be in desperate need of a reverse flush, or perhaps a trip to the radiator shop for a propper cleanout.

While you are checking the radiator, pull the bottom hose & have a real good look at it. If it looks a bit suss, then replace it.

Right ill update my problem...
Have taken it too a mechanic today as i do not have time to fix it myself this week do to skool and i need it going!!
I suspect it is my water pumps blades have disinergrated into oblivion so the coolant isnt flowing around the block/cavities.
I have new 'flexi' hoses on my radiator and they are perfectly fine and is not ####e around them....
The radiator core or the pipes running threw mite be blocked but i doubt it and plus even if they were, ive had a shagged radiator on my A15 and it didnt heat up as quickly as what this problem does...
I will post a reply tonite when i get the verdict from the blokes at Cripps Auto

Thanks for the help guys
Dave

Right....
Have got it back from the guys at the shop and still no go
They said that my bottom radiator hose wasnt tight enough around the seals so they tightend them and that my water pump is ok from a physical and looking perspective but they didnt have time to rip off the front and FULLY inspect it...
The cavities seem to be ok to them and are not blocked with random things...
The only other thing they did mention is that maybe it would be an idea to get another radiator and give that a professional fan or obtain a good new/2nd hand which works well!!

Well driving it home from work this evening it started to heat up again and do the EXACT same thing, graduially heat up as time got along.....
I am really getting shat off about this and will go to the wreakers and radiator place tommorow to get quotes or get it done strait away....
Any other thoughts would be very handy, advice on what i should do or things/problems that people have had realating to this topic would go down a treat

Thanx again
Dave
