What???? cmon DD...really???
youd probably have to use a Honda s2000 transmission with a pretty special bellhousing made up ..I guess. The ZF 6spd in my Holden Gen3 powered wagon was huge and a clunker. All other 6 speeds that I can think of are FWD or Mid engine... or V8..
BTW I reckon a Honda S2000 driveline would be a really neat setup in a 1200.

I don't know,..... David may well know something that we don't when it comes to this. Like most of us, I have never heard of a six speed for these engines, but that doesnt mean that they don't exist.

C'mon Dd, spill the beans, if these things actually exist, then what were they used in.

Actually, Dd knows a LOT of things that we don't.

200SX 6 speed is "kind of small". Depends if you are a "Shallow Hal" in regards to gearboxes.

The 200sx (S15) gearbox is quite a bit larger than the S13/S14 5 speed. It would weigh more than the A series engine.

Cheers,
Chris

Don't forget the MX-5 (Miata for those in the US), it has a six speed and is RWD. That said, you are still going to pay through the nose for one.

The Caterham 7 uses a 6 speed. I think it's based on a quaife kit fitted to the Borg Warner type 75 gearbox as fitted to Ford Sierras. It would be relatively small. As for an A series box with 6 gears if you removed reverse there would probably be room to do it. I remember stories of "special " Mazda 6 speed boxes so maybe some one somewhere had a 6 speed Datto box built.

that would give you a 9 speed...
but its been done before... some dude wanted to have the lower gears for drag racing, and still be able to cruise, so he put two gearboxes in rather than swap diff centres every time he went down the strip... looked kinda weird with two quickshifters next to eachother, but apparenltly it worked well. (it was in an old chevy or something... don't think it'd fit in a datto)
only downside was the extra weight
