So after I posted those pics, I went back to the auto hobby shop and did some more work. I figured out exactly how the fuel system is going to work and where it'll all get mounted. I'll be using a Holley Red electric pump mounted on the frame rail behind the right rear tire to put gas into the surge tank inside where the fuel evaporator tank used to be. Then just below that (gravity feed) I'll mount the EFI Walbro pump with a Z32 fuel filter in front of it, and then I've got to mount new 5/16" fuel line from back to front twice for the return line as well. Keep in mind you're going to need just about 12 feet for each line, so 24-25 ft total minimum, and don't forget to use EFI specific fuel line and clamps, standard fuel line won't hold up to the pressure!!!
After playing around with all that I put the car back on the lift and bolted the transmission to the engine. This required a cherry picker (engine hoist) hold the engine up, with the car jacked way up too so I could fit the transmission jack under the car, and also unbolting the engine mounts. Bolting the tranny/engine together wasn't too hard at all, but then again I didn't have a clutch or flywheel on yet either. Once bolted together I angled the engine back to where it should be, but there was interference in the transmission tunnel and the firewall!! This was because I haven't cut a hole yet for the SR20 shifter which sits further back where the tunnel gets a lot smaller. So, I cut out the metal inside the car, which ended up being a bit. Also had to bang/bend the tunnel just a little on the sides, no big deal. I need to trim a little more, but it looks pretty good so far. I turned the bottom metal piece on the SR tranny mount around backwards to line up better with the meat of the metal on the floor. It looks like I will have to use a couple spacers under the mount to raise the transmission up a little more, also no big deal. Once I trimmed the shifter hole, even though it still needs more trimming, I was able to get the engine back on it's mounts and bolted down, then I ran out of time and they closed. Good news is the transmission is now in the car! Now just need to drill holes for the mounts and look at welding or bolting a support piece inside the car to help spread the weight load for the tranny mounts to go into.
I'm trying to get that H165 that 2332 showed me. As soon as I have one I can get the driveshaft length figured out and send the flange/yoke/measurements off to a driveshaft place in the US to get made up.
My intake manifold and water outlet is also complete and should get back to me sometime next week maybe. I'll post pictures as soon as it all arrives, should be awesome to see, fully polished with a 90mm Q45 Throttle Body on it!!! Other than that, I'm just trying to scrounge up all the little things such as fuel lines, intercooler piping/connectors, and exhaust piping. Also need to start telling people to quit scrounging stuff off my donor car 180SX!! A friend of mine pulled off the carbon/vaccuum canister and didn't tell me...not cool!! Anyways, until tomorrow....see ya!
