my car is making "rumbling" noise when decellerating or letting go off the gas pedal its like coming from the exhaust and carb (not 100% sure on noise on carby) but pretty sure the noise is coming from the exhaust
when you put the gear on neautral it doesnt make the noise

is it running rich?
checked the plugs, points, timing, fuel float seems right

running 32/36 weber on stock A12 engine

cheers

This would suggest to me that maybe the noise is in the gearbox?????
But I have been wrong more times than I have been right about these things, anyone else know different?

the noise was louder when I was running rich but now if I screw the mixture in further the engine runs rough

definitely not the gearbox though
was running fine before the swap

then my only other thoughts would be the exhaust is rattling on the floor or something similar. When you have it in neutral, it only idles and there is not as much movement in the engine mounts and it doens't hit????
( I think maybe I am just making $hit up now!!!)

I dont think its the actual exhaust though cos I did not have this problem before the swap.

There are alot of rumbling noises from a car you need to specify to us.

Go under and inspect whilst someone revs the motor a little.
The closet part that exhaust system could hit on other than the body itself might the g\box.

Another thing { I could be wrong} is the brake pipes hitting somewhere near the body, especially if you removed them over the years a little.

Oh, another thing, could also been the g\box mounting rubbers are shot.
