I went out and bought a complete M&W ignition and coil setup for my CA18DET so my standard coils are for sale im not sure what there are worth but il say $50 each im pretty sure the wreckers ask alot more than that.

Yeah mate i got 2 double ended M&W coils for $70 ea and the 2 channel ignitor for 4 $125.

I have used M&W on all my cars never had a problem.

I see aftermarket ignition setups as a little unnecessary (Unless after market ECUs require it).

I have heard only rumours that the multicoil and factory transistor pack are unreliable with a high performance engine.

I am willing to run with my theory. That many "poorly performing cars" have owners/friends who have shares in aftermarket auto accessory stores.

There are noted RF/DC interference problems with the CA's ignition setup. But keep it clean, and don't use cheap electronics in the car, and it won't be a problem.

It's all good..no matter what ignition is chosen.

I agree Chris, and basically where i was going with that.

I know when i thought i had ignition problems and was about to outlay for an entire new system that 0.7mm plug gap instead of 1mm made all the difference!

Apparently alot of these big hp skylines have the factory ignition still.

i agree with both of you, but for the price of something that can be wired into a stk computer, it would be one less thing to worry about for whenfuture mods require it.

to support the std setup, guys in england and the states are using it for cars with well over 300rwhp.

Standard setup is fine but interferance and overhaeting problems with standard CA18DET coils is common so removing them and replacing them with an aftermarket setup just gives me a bit more piece of mind and the wolf ecu im using does not require this setup but will perform better with the M&W.
Not to mention when the standard coils do over heat and #### them selves they are $70 a hit from the wreckers with no idea if they even work.
