just a word of warning - the KE30 in Aus was locally assembled and fitted with the BrgWarner diff, which is what I am reffering to. NZ cars may be different. So I would not expect AE86 centres to fit

Did anyone ever find a solution to this? Does anyone know exactly how long a Vanette diff is? Are there LSD versions or options for it?

Just to answer a few questions:

KE30 diff is longer than KE25. Not sure by how much, it's not much but it is longer.
AE86 internals are not interchangeable with KE30. KE30 is a 6", AE86 is a 6.7"
KE30 came with 2 different diffs in Aus. Earlier ones came with a jap-style diff, common ratio 4.11 and 4.3 I think. Later ones came with a BW, common ratio 4.11

Hi Y'all
Vannete diffs come in H165 and H190 sizes. They're both 90mm wider than the H145 in the 1200. They are available as leaf or coil spring
The leaf spring mounts on the vannette diffs are too far apart by 40mm...

Escort diffs go straight in the hole, there are a ton of aftermarket parts for them (need fully floating axles, aluminium head and housing, 4 pot calipers and shim adjustable toe and camber?) and they're a little wider, 40mm from memory

I have MK2 Escort diff for my coupe, I haven't fitted it yet but it looks like the spring mounts are actually closer together than on the original (although total width is wider) it appears the mounts will need to be moved out as the springs tend to bind.

Tsillay did you modify the mounts in some other way?

Hey Demo,
while you are designing the diff upgrade, you could consider wheel spacers as a short term fix. I have a set of 28mm wide (per side) if that will help. I have a C20 / H165 in my coupe with disc rear and it has been a bit of a challenge to get tyres inside my flares without buying new wheels - so keep in mind the overall assembled width with your wheels and tyres on then add the 90mm or whatever. Good luck !
Cheers
