2x 4'5inch pipes on a four banger!! far out man.....
are you thinking of doing this all the way through or just spliting the pipes?
i think you should talk to someone who knows a bit about "backpreassure"....unless your car is trubo'd or supercharged you need back preassure. from what i understand the exhaust pipes and mufflers restrict the flow of exhaust out of the engine. this sounds like a bad thing but the gasses that are stuck in there are still moving just slower than they would be in a big bore system, this 'backpreassure' in turn sucks out the gasses from the cylinders instead of the gasses pushing against atmospheric pressure to leave the combustion chamber.
this usually doesnt matter but in you case with a total of 9inch pipe diameter it just might.
would be kinda cool though.

That's a fairly serious exhaust we're talking about here. Hope the car is not lowered as, if the exhaust is full length, there will be some big ground clearance issues to deal with. Getting it all over the rear axle will be a challenge as well.

he just wants it for looks, i'd say go the normal 2 inch and then somehow split off another two inch or even 1.5 to the other side and just chuck some 4 inch tips on there, but ion a coupe it's still gonna be a prick to get any size exhuast past the fuel tank

If you want a dual excaust just for looks just weld a nice looking muffler on a bracket on the oppisite side than your real muffler, dont connect it to anything just have it sitting there.
I new a guy who had a very stock looking 1600 with a big hp FJ20T had the real excaust dumping halfway down the car with a Little pee shooter sticking out the back, tricked many people.

i axually found out that you can have an exhurst running along the side of the car as long as the pipe is behind the doors so for all you people who have a coupe and want it put the two of them beside the car behind the door
