Exhaust Manifold !!!

Does anybody know whether the 1200 exhaust manifold exits in the same place as the later 120y or Sunny ??? (Both Aus versions, not sure what there called elsewhere). Using the 120y manifold it fowls on part of my firewall,I'm currently using custom made extractors that are about ten years old and in dire need of replacement(Expensive), but if the 1200/Sunny exits in a different place I can order extractors that are gonna fit up with no mods. I was hoping during engine swaps some body noticed a difference between them !!

I know that the A-12 and A-14 headers (extractors) have clearance issues when used on the opposite engine (A-14 header on an A-12 and vice-versa), but that has to do with engine mount location. Where on the firewall is yours hitting? All of the US manifolds I have seen look like they are interchangeable. Does the manifold you have come out at an angle more parallel to the ground or something?

It's cause what car i'm running it in !!
It's in a bloody 58 Morris Minor ute !!! Seriously i've had datty engines in one morrie or another for the last 15 years.Bloody brilliant little engine. But its only become a issue lately cause my strags are just about buggered ! The 120y manifold exits straight at a pillar they built into the firewall. Where i want it to exit is about 2 or 3 ins away from the engine . [ Edited by Morrie_Man on 2002/4/11 22:48:13 ] [ Edited by Morrie_Man on 2002/4/11 22:54:35 ]

And I thought your name was because you were a fan of Buddy Sorrell from the Dick Van Dyke Show. Too obscure? Sorry. Anyway, back to your problem. I don't know what you should do. Is there no room for a turn after the pipe exits the manifold? How are your welding skills? If they are satisfactory, why not zook up a header yourself? That's what I had to do to put a NAPS-Z 2 liter in the Chickenhawk. If the flange that bolts to the head is still good you're well on your way. Then you can make it go wherever you want it to. I have to warn you though, this isn't any cheaper than buing a new header. Good luck.
