..in datto power.

eversince i got my a14 ute i just endless problems with it and constantly had to fork out cash for stuff breaking left and right. Now that i've basically replace/reconed everthing things are going alot better. So good that i thought its time to see what she could do. I took on a friend with a stock EFI ford sapphire 2.0 and well i didn't beat him but was about half a cars length behind him all the time. that power to weight comes in very handy

This same friend has an old ford cortina standing in his backyard(planning on making it a project car) and he still has its stock 32/36 carby laying around . So i was wondering how big are the performance gains, how bad will it effect my fuel economy and has anyone rejetted this carby for a stock A14 motor, what were the jet sizes that you used?

go the 32/36 great power gains, and will use more fuel if driven hard obviously

theres a lot of discussion about this carb on the site,

basically it's a great upgrade, no one really knows what jets to use, i had mine done by my mechanic

it does cost a bit to get on, you need an adaptor, the throttle linkage will swap over though, an air cleaner, and retune, rebuild and rejet are all possibilities

if its water choke which it should be its easy to adapt that to the existing heater hose

A friend of mine is in the engineering bussiness so the adaptor plate and linkages can hopefully be done with a bit of effort and a bottle of whisky im not aiming to high on the powergains, im hoping for a gain of 10 - 15 nm torque and 5-6 kw or is this a bit optimistic?
On the rejetting part, i quess its best to take it to the dyno tuners, maybe they can squeze a bit extra out of it and then i can know how much perfomance gains i got from carby.

thanks

it would be nice to get a figure on the power gain, but its definately a fair bit, it really opens up the top end of the rev performance, you really notice the second throat on the carbie open up
