Well we spend from 10:00am Saturday morning till 9:00pm when i finally drove my car home for the first time the tune was fairly basic so i could not give the car heaps just drive it normally put i could still feel the power it just wanted to go.

All was going well couldnt stop smilling untill the scariest thing that has every happend to me while driving a car happend doing about 80kph the old and unused bonnet latch failed sending the bonnet smashing into the window and blocking my vision completely this was on the Great Western highway by the way.
My first reaction was to slam on the brakes inturn locking them sending me skiding. I could hear cars behind me locking the brakes as well and thinking plaese dont hit me. I jump off the brakes and look out my side window to see i was very close to the median strip so i turned left on to the side of the road and locked them up once again till finally coming to a stop.
Needless to say the bonnet is ####ed and ther is a slight dent in the roof, but ive got a brand new taiwanesse bonnet already on the car which is black so ive got the import look going now but the car will not be drivin again to th bonnet pins ive ordered are fimly in place.

Moral of The story when you drive a car for the first time check and double check everything
Cheers Luke

I know how much it can freak you out - it happened to me years ago, but mine happened in a suburban back street at very low speed. You did well to keep it off the armco and everything at 80kph. Good to hear there's not too much damage.

Same thing happened to me at 100 in a civic coupe, it was one of the scariest time ive ever had on the road. There is no safe move you can make and in a brand new datto it could have only been worse.

Have you got a good panel beater you can recomend NIS???

Me too, I was lucky and the hood flew up just as I pulled away from a gas station. As soon as I hit the brakes the hood slammed closed, but the damage to the hood was done.
Oh well.

YEP!!!!!!! been there, done that!

The first 1200 i had had a ford bonnet(flutes from a xb,xc welded into a 1200 bonnet) and it come up on me once! next day i bought some bonnet pins, they're worth it!!!!!

Smashed the windscreen(Showered in glass),dented the roof, and buckled the bonnet that i worked so hard on, i was not happy to say the least!!!!!!!
Neither was my old man!!!
