ok, i filled up with unleaded the other day since lrp was no where to be seen. since ive done this, its running terribly. smoking more then me, oil is very very thin, almost clear.. the fuel filter is on about 5% full and ive lost alot of performance..

suggestions of fixing this? without stating the obvious of looking for an petrol stations with lrp...

the same thing happened to me a while back... turned out that the place that I filled up at (on Sydney's northern beaches) had it's fuel tanks contaminated with water. I was not impressed. They had no premium or LRP.

Just drain all oil - drain fuel tank - change all filters and start over again. should be fine... well that worked for me at least.

if your car is tuned aggressively for 95 RON, then sticking 91 RON in it will make it run like a dog.

back your timing off a few degrees and it should be better.

but the clear oil bit doesn't sound good...

If you figure there is water in the fuel you could try adding a capfull or so of metholated spirits to the tank. Theory being that it stops the water from seperating with the fuel. Then the engine should run ok until you've run the crappy fuel out of the tank. May save draining the tank.

I picked up on this when the origional cheap Safeway petrol came out. I figured that was about a 75-25 petrol/seawater blend ??
