the reason for calling them globe bathurst wheels is that they were made by globe wheels,
& were originally designed for use on the phase 3 gtho falcons,to replace the steel wheels which were flexing & breaking under load.each of the 500 owners of a gtho was supposedly sent a set of 15 x 7 inch wheels, due to homologation reasons.the design was based on a ferrari wheel,& was sold with the model name bathurst, because of the connection with the 500 mile race there.the design was copied by other manufacturers here in australia,& sold under various names, but always have been called bathurst mags.like hotwires, minilites, etc,
the name became generic.

Thats almost totally correct except the wheels were manufactured for the stillborn Phase 4 XA that was being developed but the "supercar scare" halted. The wheels were distributed to Ford dealers to give/sell to XY owners to allow Moffat to run them on his well sorted XY that was hard on tyres. I'll take my trainspotters coat off now before you guys start thinking I'm a Ford fan... The LH Toranas SLRs and later A9Xs did run these wheels as well and those in the know had magnesium ones.

I dont know where you live, But I sent some mag wheels by courier to Brisbane once. It cost about $100, and was a massive headache.
