I put a 32/36 webber on my a12 powered ute, it ran good but smoked. I then took it to RECARB to get it rejetted. Drove it home and it was running good except it stalled cas the idle was to slow. Got it home and turned the idle up from 700 to 1100. Drove out the street, went round a courner & it stalled. It would not start unless i held my foot flat, and blew heaps of smoke.
So i turned the mixture screw right in and it still is running too rich to drive it any where to get fixed.
Does the idle speed screw make it rich?
Any help would be great to get it running again...

I don't think that the idle mixture adjustment screw is your problem. From your description, you have a needle & seat that won't seal.

What seems to be happening is that the needle & seat allow more fuel to pass into the float bowl, than the engine uses when it is idling. The bowl overfills & raw fuel runs into the engine, causing the mixture to be far too rich & the engine stalls. Turning the idle mixture screw right in will not fix the problem, but it will have created a problem when the real problem is fixed, Fortunately, this is easily rectified. The idle may have been too slow as a result of the over rich mixture. The black smoke surely is.

When cruising or powering on, the engine used more fuel than the needle & seat was leaking, so everything was OK.

Do you know how to remove the needle & seat? There is probably has just a tiny piece of rubish under the needle, where it seals on the seat, so removing it & washing or blowing [with the mouth] it clear may well fix your problem.

Have you looked at the troubleshooting section of your workshop manual? It's always a good place to start.

yeah, i had the same problem, dirt in the needle and seat and too much fuel getting threw.

clean it out and it will be fine, or even take it back to the carb company maybe they never tightened the seat properly

good luck
