Hello all,

My apartment manager's office put a note on my 1973 Datsun 1200 to either get it running or move it. I am in the final phase of a VA-disability claims case -- which I believe I will win -- and was hoping it'd be over/settled before the office put that note on my car (I knew THAT was coming), but the office got to me first.

Besides, I don't think I can find all NEW parts for the car -- especially transmission differential, steering, suspebsion, etc. -- to completely restore it to nice new condition.

Consequently, I will give it away to another Datsun 1200 fan rather than call someone to tow it away to who knows where.

I'm in El Paso, TX...bring a flatbed truck (or tow-dolly) ASAP and tow it back home. It has very good tires all around, even the spare.

I have lots of parts in a storage room, too, but not on hand presently to include them now...maybe later when I can find them.

Anyway, first Datsun 1200 fan showing up gets it...but you must act quickly because the management is on my case to move it or THEY will tow it at my expense...I don't mind paying said exense, but I'd rather it go to a good home and live on in some way...it's been a real good car to me -- a "friend" if you will -- and I am sad to see it go, but I'd at least feel better if it goes to a good home and not a junkyard or shredder.

If I don't hear from anyone soon, I'll have to call someone locally to take it away.

Thanks,

John D.

The guy above -- 10s&20s -- never got back to me (didn't even have enough class to let me know) so the car is still available...but not for long as I have to move it soon.

Last call...

Update:

The car is gone as of this evening to a local Datsun 1200 fan, so it worked out for the best I guess.

Thanks all,

John D.

John, don't know if you're going to ever see this thread again, but I'm glad you found an enthusiast to come pick up the car. I just realized that I have relatives in El Paso, and may have been able to arrange a pick up. But it all worked out anyhow.

matbighat,

Thanks for your post...I can only hope that my 1200 will have a good home, and with someone more able to restore/fix it up.

Although there was no serious pressure on me by the office (apt. manager) -- no specific deadline set I mean -- I told them I would get it moved as soon as I could and didn't want any special treatment from the other tenants here. And, I didn't want it to drag on or wear out the office's patience so sooner was the better for me.

As I said, a local party took it. This makes it easier to get al the parts I have to him -- when I can sort them out in my storage room -- since I don't need to ship them out-of-town/state (which could be expensive)...he can come by with his PU truck and take them himself.

BTW, my '73's original color was "burnt orange" like yours...which looks real nice from what I can tell in the small pic you have in your sig! Mine didn't look that good but it certainly could without too much work.

I hope you can find new parts for your '71 1200...mine served me well for 32 years. I'm a bit sad at it departure but it's probably for the best.

Regards,

John D.
