If you want to put a 4age in a ute ,go buy a corolla ute

But really, the 4age is a good engine and would go good

Funny, I'm looking at puting a ca18 into my sprinter ,some say the ca was a progresion from the 4ag just as the 4ag was to the ford bda motor.20v and gze are awsome motors but for my money(or lack there of) I'm turboing the de and it should cost a lot less than any turboed 4ag variant.Just my 2c worth.BTW my sprinters getting r33 front and xf rear brakes and my old 1200 coupe had hilux brakes and is just about to get a celica 5 speed. Don't let politics get in the way of a good idea. Its all jap, its all good.

Toyota is the enemy! It would be like stuffing a Ford motor in a 57 Chev! personally, I wouldn't use anything other than a Nissan/Datsun engine in my 1200. But I did have a Datsun 240K with a Leyland V8 in it, so don't let me stop ya!

If you think its still somehow a "Datsun" engine because it has Nissan on the rocker cover you are just kidding yourself.

huh?

in that case, ive seen a 350 chev in a shelby cobra replica, so in my opinion, go ahead with the conversion. if i remember corectly, the t or w 50 gearbox(forgot which one they use) that is behind the 4a's stock fits str8 into the datto trans tunnel. if u want to be really unique, u could track down a 7age out of a camry and fit the 4a head to that. with a bit machining to a few things, and some tuning, and u have a 1.8l 4ag

just ;ike those dart motors, half chevy and half ford parts and you can interchang them depending of capacity etc.....

they can stick whatever they want in those horrible lumps of wannabe crap. cobra replicas should be banned, and all those guys with their mid life crisis can go drive MX5s where they belong...

yeah good idea. why do things by halves, when you can could be really broke! ever heard of a CA18? 1.8l without any expensive machining or buying other heads or bottom ends. And then there's the factory turbo version as icing on the cake.

I'm currently in the process of putting the 4agze into my dato ute but I've taken the blower off and replacing it with a gt25r turbo my main reason for putting this motor in was it's a lighter motor than a CA and it produce quite a bit of HP and there a pretty strong motor not that i'm saying that CA's are no good but each to there own.
And life would be pretty borning if we all thought the same

You lads can swap engine makes and get a few grumbles from the diehards, but if we do that in the states, you're ridiculed.

T50(sprinter) box is the only bolt up box for 4ag but there a bit fragile and the gze will raquire an ag flywheel for t50(clutch is to big). W-series boxes are tough but need a custom bellhousing and are usaly expensive and poor quality.I belive ca and gze are simular weight but ca has 200cc's on the gze.7af is like a ca20, a sad retarded cousin of the real thing with not much potential.Unless youre keeping the blower I'd go the ca,no home made bits.
