I've just measured the diff & it is 1250mm from outside hub to outside hub.

For those people who arent aware that you will need to shorten your tailshaft to suit this setup.

This diff is also 5 stud - ford stud pattern so your standard wheels will not fit unless you reset the stud location on the axles.

It's a Dodge /Plymouth wheel stud pattern. Thats 5 studs on a 4-1/2" pitch circle diameter [or 114 point something mm for metriphiles]
Ford copied it after it had been in continuous use for seventeen years. [since November 1931]
The true "Ford" pattern [1928 to '35, then '39 to '48] seems to have not been used by anyone else that i know about.

I guess what irks me is the overwhelming dumbing down.
Things like the following are inacurate & misleading, but seem to become true if enough people get it wrong enough, often enough.

The object on offer here is not a diff, it's a rear axle assembly. The diff is the bit in the middle.

It has not been shortened [front to rear] It's been narrowed [side to side]

It's not a Ford pattern as Ford never invented it, used it first, or ever had exclusive use of it, they were just another adopter of it, yet the ignorant call it a Ford pattern. God only knows why.

How hard is it to get it right?
