If the original coil was using a ballast resistor, and you are still using that coil, then yes, you will have to keep using the resistor. The distributor should be 2 wire, one is ignition feed and the other is the trigger, the trigger wire is the same one that came off the original distributor.

Is the trigger wire the wire that was hooked up to the condenser? and which one of the wires from the distributer should I hook up the negetive or the positive? The colors of the wire is Blue and Black, I'm assuming that black is negetive.

asume nothing when it come to electronics, check the module it should show which terminal is what, it should have 'b' for battery +, and 'c' for coil. Or find yourself a wiring diagram.

Does the c go to coil + or - ?

Well I finally found a downside to the use of a Pertronix electronic ignition conversion.

I fitted one to my 1200 years ago & have NEVER looked back. I have never looked at the inside of the distributor again either & that was the problem.

During routine maintainance with points one is supposed to lift the rotor button & place a drop of light oil in the hole underneath the rotor. This lubricates the distributor cam & the distributor shaft so that the mechanical advance can work properly.

Well of course without points, or the need to lift the cap & rotor, the shaft never got oiled & it eventually stuck in just one position which means that the mechanical advance function ceased to, ..... well, ..... function.

I found this when troubleshooting another problem, so I gave it a drop of oil & freed up the stuck parts. All is well again & I will perform this service task at each oil change in the future.

Good to mention that. Most points distributors now have stuck or broken advance plate bearings.

For wiring, the B wire goes to the coil + terminal. The "trigger wire" which I've never seen marked that way, goes to coil negative terminal.

A condensor is not required with electronic ignition. Some cars have it as optional depending on the year etc. It won't hurt and helps with radio interference. A condensor is REQUIRED for the point set.

The stock Datsun 1200 distributor wiring is:
* Black wire with white stripe (BW)
* Blue wire (L)

Blue to coil negative
BW to coil positive
