How old is my A15?
sidedraught

I want to get my 1000 coupe engineered with the twin webbered A15 in it ,
but how old it is will affect emmission requirements. Cat converter, PCV etc. Because in NSW when you put a more modern engine into your car you have to meet the emmission standards for the engines year of manufacture not the cars. How do I determine the build date for my engine? Here is it is # A15-196508A

OK why dont you transfer all the pollution system from the car you have remove the engine from then it will have all the emission component to meet the engineers for the conversion your doing...........

Good thought but me thinks if one is asking what year their engine is, they dont have a car accompanying the engine. And if one had all the emissions componets with the engine, they wouldnt be trying to find out what year the engine is so as to find out what pollution gear is required. Just a thought.

You could use the A14 block with a15 internals.
As a15 started production in 80? Where a14 started around 75?

I think you will find the only emissions gear for the engine is the PCV and Idle Stop Solenoid on the carbie.

I would pick the first A15 powered vehicle that was imported into AUS then have it comply to those requirements.
i would say a vanette would be your best bet. Sorry Andy I cant help further. Thats why I have a race car rather than a road car. I can still run leaded avgas if I want to!!!

Thank you all for your advice,
I will ring the RTA, I will invest in some stamps, and I will tell THEM what emmision standards I should be meeting. Thanks again You can view topic.
