You 2 crack me up. I dont think anyone has knocked the A series.
I asked what you feel is a true datsun. Because to me thats how they came from the factory.
All my datsuns have been A series, so I dont see why you needed someone to have your back.
Its good to see you kids have the Datsun spirit. I am really keen to see pics of both your Dattos.

Without wanting to start another "here we go again"

and meaning no disrespect to the alternative engine crowd,

I love the purity of the A series, its a kick ass little donk,

So more power to you guys.

I went on the qld datto cruise the other day and was suprised to see out of the 15 or so cars that rocked up only me in the A series powered 1200 and a bloke in a L series powered stanza had original engines. Larger in capacity but of the same design. Everyone else was either CA or SR. I actually felt sort of proud to still have a A series in there. Plus the old A series sounds best

Pfffft, According to my highly advanced formulae, that factors in such important events like temperature drop across the throttle plate with diferent fuels, fractional mass variations at diferent airflow velocities, combined with randon chaos theorum which factors in seasonal variatons like the gravitational pull of the moon, i say that you don't know what you're talking about.

It will develop a full 143,258 brake horsepower, but only on Thursdays

Just for the record im not bagging anything out. Id love a CA datto. oooh the speed. But I do still like the a-series. It just bolts in and nissan/datsun convienently made it in larger capacitys. Im not even a purist. Woudnt care if the engine came from a different manufacturer. (things like dodge, holden, chev and ford this is not allowed, engine must be same make as car)

Everyone do what ever you like CA,SR,Rotor, 4age there all good. However I do think these days most are feeling these are the only way to go. Old school is still good too though. I love carbs

Do the thing thats kind to your back pocket and puts the biggest smile on your face with that money.
As with any investment...you should only invest what youre prepared to lose...so thats why I can only go an A series at this stage. But I tell you what...the looks on their faces when they see a little pushrod carbed A series mixing it with 20 valve motors with EFI and programmable computers is priceless.
oh and that smell of those carbs even when the car has been sitting for 3 days...
oh and the sound at 8000rpm is magnificent.
