Find one off a 1600 cortina if you can. Very minimal changes needed to make it run right on a 1400/1500 as it came off an engine almost the same size.

When I put one on I noticed a slight incresse in fuel. Better torque and was able to rev alot better up high. Original struggles about 5500rpm where as the weber keeps on going. The only downside to the weber was poor drivability down low. The engine just didnt create enough vaccume off idle for it so you always has to bring the revs up to get ready to take off.

Those sidedraft weber prices are a bit high arent they? I'd expect 45s for that money, but I guess you're talking about carbs in mint condition. Well you don't want sh*t ones and new 40's are still $800 each.

I got my weber tuned fairly well, I have the round port intake so maybe that's why my low end torque is not too bad. I am also getting about 30 MPG at 80+ mph, with an egt of 1350, so I'd say i'm tuned good at WOT, I'm too rich at idle, but am waiting on jets.
I have a mild cam on my A15 and 2" cat back overall It's running good. try #60 primary idle, #80 secondary idle, and fuel jets and air correctors similar to what was mentioned for the A12, or spend some $$ and have the carb shop tune it. You can view topic.
