Fit the sidiedraughts mate.....you will want to fit extractors/headers at the same time cause you rarely get an inlet manifold to clear the standard exhaust manifold. To really make use of the carbs you should fit a new performance cam and you will be pleased with the transformation . As for the story about about Webers being no longer available that is complete horse ####. Weber sold the manufacturing rights and they are now made in Mexico. DCOE and IDAs are still available new in all the popular sizes.

My A15 was running a stock carby and a set of extractors. When I fitted the twin 40's there was a huge difference in power and response. It was definately worth the money.

I don't think you'll be using sidedraughts to their full potential unless you build the motor, but they are still worth putting on a stock motor.

So 40's are worthwhile if the motor is built and still give a noticeable bit extra on a stockie..... But is it worth the extra money over a 32/36 downdraught?...... or a set of SU's??

I've got a pair of 1.5 in SU's on an L series manifold, but they need a full recond- I'm trying to decide if its worth the effort to sort them out and find/ fabricate a manifold for them. The engine is an A-15 with mild cam extractors & lightened fly & stock carby..... goes alright but not great, still takes about 10 sec to get to 100
