Howdy gang,

I now have a smacked up 73-1200sedan to go with my 73coupe, and a 74-B210 basket.

The coupe is my prime focus since I like em best and the sedan ran into a truck or something and smunched the front rad/rad support/ d-fender(think you ozzies call em guards)/ the grill, valence etc are not work trying to save, but.... the P-side fender is ok and will replace the rusty one on my coupe. Its got a stock A12 but runs fine (now that I pulled and pounded the rad support out and tossed the old rad, lol)

I drove the sedan home today with bungies holding the hood down and zip stips holding the fender and grill in place.... bout 2hr drive but was fun, especially considering no muffler, lol. Good thing no cops out when I came back cause there were lots on the way to go get it,lol.

Anyway, I am gonna yank some stuff of it for my coupe then gotta decide what to do with the rest. Anyone near west coast of BC in need of stuff?? I hate to just junk it if anything can be salvaged.

As for the B210, its a hatch back and body plus interior is good, but the engine seems seized from sitting and the inner fenders or strut towers have gotten rusted. Is it easy to reset and repair the inner fenders on these cars with a mig, or should I strip it and junk the shell?

Hey thanks gang, I know there are a lot of ya that love these cars and know tons about em and have ideas.

Cheers

by "rusted" do you mean like this?

this ia a photo of my March 1977 Datsun 120Y (B210) 4 door sedan known as "The Defect"

from what I understand where the guards bolt on is a place where all 120Y's/B210's rust badly-I have never attempted to fix either of my 120Y shells as the rust in my 120Y is terminal, I also have a '74 4 door sedan bodyshell that is alot better condition and it is rusted there too!

I can only recomend that you take your 120Y (B210) to a few panelbeaters and get a few quotes...

or if you are a good enough welder remove the front guards and get into it!

hmmm now Mawler thanks for your input.... well in some ways its worse and in others not I guess... The strut tower is leaning in towards engine and actually up against the master brake cylinder on one side... the structural tube is completely gone but the inner fender metal is all there.... When you look close you can see they designed the tubes with a drain hole at the bottom but it allows mud and such to get up inside and then rots it from the inside out..... bad design flaw that one...

It sounds like you need a complete inner guard /fender from a donor car. Any B210 should qualify here. This will likely as not involve the services of a body shop [panelbeater] as it will need to be set up in a chassis jig to ebsure that everything is true & square, otherwise the wheel alignment will always be "off"

If the car is rare enough in Canada, & you really really want one, then maybee it's worth it, but is sounds more like a parts proposition to me.

Thanks DM.... I picked up a 79-210 today as well to add to my (growing) collection. I will pull a fender (guard) and have a look at how it is constructed..... I have a huntch they are going to be very much the same..... My plan is to drive the 210 for now as a daily transport so I can work on the coupe and strip out the sedan.... Its a real shame about the sedan, the more I look at it the more I like it, but I still prefer the coupe. The b210 will just sit a bit while I decide what fate lies ahead for it.... I know they are getting very hard to get parts for and a nice fellow across the inlet would love to get it for parts for his in vancouver....

Hey thanks guys... I would love to get down to your neck of the woods and go to a ratdat ralley just to see your toys... Its good to see and hear your postings about all the projects you have going on, and sweet rides you have.

good idea Saltwater, if the B210 is good nick apart from the rusty strut towers, if the front frame rails are good you could always cut everything from the firewall off (bar chassis/frame rails) and have an aftermarket strut or dual wishbone setup instead!

just an idea though!
