Depends on how much of an increase you're after. For a small power hike the usual Weber 32/36, headers and exhaust is an easy and relatively inexpensive way to get a small gain. From there the world is your oyster! All manner of things have been done to Datsuns from modifying the A series motors heavily right through to engine conversions.
How much more power are you after and what is your budget? Matty

for the sake of intrest, how much extra power will a weber and zorst give you. Will it take a second of a quatermile or is this hopelessly optimistic. Keep in mind that i do a 19.3sec quatermile, point and laught now. I've got a weber at home that i still need to setup but i'm just not getting the time to do it
and if its not gonna do much i might aswell not do the convertion.

My B310 is an a12 and im in the process of building an exhaust, what size single pipe would best suit the webber setup?
i have found that the sunny is strangled by the stock exhaust... i simply un bolted the back half of the exhaust for the hell of it and with no other tweaking it ran noticably quicker... also adding a webber soon, on the subject of the webber, try to feed it cold air as that helped the potential of my stock carby also

As has been said before the A series engine with no noticeable internal differences but maybe a diffrent carburetor/induction would work best with say a 1 3/4" straight thru exhaust, if the engine has had say head work, differnt cam, pistons, crank work and a quite larger carby say 40mm or duals then 2 to 2.5" would work better....
Extractors are always a great way to get the A series alive and kicking, some 4-2-1 (tunned length would be better) extractors would be better suited than say the 4-1's but both a great upgrade! Yeah the B310 standard pipe is a little pee shooter, i think its 1" to 1 1/4" pipe, its crap! anders8b id be opting for a 1 3/4" strait thru exhaust if i were you, depending if future upgrade is on the cards or not.. I have a 1977 120Y (B210), that is my farm hack, as an auto it was gutless!, but I found a hotdog/cherrybomb muffler in the shed, where the engine pipe flattens out to go under the car I cut off about half a metre back from there and put the hotdog/cherrybomb in the "cavity" under the passengers seat as an auto top speed went from 75 Km/h to 100 Km/h
but now that it is a manual it goes VERY well now! also because my 120Y isn't road worthy I did some things that you might not get away with on a road car like removing hoodlining, carpet, all the "interior plastic crap", heater(it may go back in though!)I wouldn't copy my exhaust sytem exactly just get rid of the stock muffler.

From what I heard and saw, putting an A15 head on an A12 along with webers, even a15 pistons etc can increase the performance of the A12....but why waste time doing up an A12 when you can get an A15(with manual gearbox),ca18det,Z18T or SR20.....I wouldn't

i'll tell ya why...
A12s are throwaway. blow one up and no-ones gonna cry. that also makes them cheap to modify. i have 1 in my shed i plan to turbo at a later datre add to that there are no licensing issues turboing an A12 in a 1000 or the like. class regs for under 2L stipulate that a turbo A14 is out of the question (1.7x NA capacity), but a turbo A12 comes in at 1990ish cc. so there are plenty of good reasons to do up an A12. it's like picking an RB26 over an RB30 - one revs harder. i know which one i'd pick.

Will a stock A15 head flow better than a stock A12 head? I'm not sure. It's got bigger valves, larger intake ports, but they are swirl design.
