Hi qik1000. The conversion is as follows. 1-Celica 5 speed, 1200 or 120Y auto bell housing. Get a piece of 16mm alluminium and get some one to machine one side to fit the gearbox and the otherside to fit the bell housing. Use counter sunk bolts to mount the plate to the gbox, and mount the bhousing to the plate. Buy 2 front spigot seals and put them both in the spigot. You will need to make mods to the bhousing, mount the pivot for the clutch making sure you don't drill thru the plate. Cut a slot in the bell housing for the cluth arm, and mount the toyota thrust bearing on the dato clutch leaver. Drill a hole in the bhousing for the clutch cable and form a ally bracket to retain it. Machine a bearing in the back of the flywheel, and get your clutch guy to provide a clutch to suit. Job done, plate $35 maching $70, front seal $5, bell housing $50, bearing $10, flyweel machining $50.00, clutch well that depends on your application.

Clubman,
I recon you could go into business selling that conversion. Maybe in a kit form. Have you heard all of the A-series owners who want a 5-speed?

Never thought of an A-Series Clubman. Very cool! There's a guy here in California with an A-Series Sprite and it really goes!
BTW, you want to make easy money, find yourself a bunch of 210 (b310) 5spds and sell them on eBay for up to $500 U.S.
Just include "RIVERGATE RESTORATION or MORRISERVICE GARAGE Five Speed Conversion" in the auction description.

Just a note for all the haters.... Rivergate doesn't do anything to the tranny that makes it incompatible with our datsuns. It just so happens that the MG people will pay for parts and the 210 people aren't.
I bought my most recent 5 speed from a rivergate conversion person, and sold my fried tranny back to them for $280. Net price for a fresh 5 speed = $100
I wish I had time to sell 5 speeds, maybe I'd find a nice dog leg

Clubman......... If I've read your post correctly, an A series auto box has a bolt on bell housing? I'm picking up a W50 ( steel case) Celica 5 speed box soon and I was intending to fabricate a bell housing to match up to my A14. If the A series autos have a bolt on bell housing , an adaptor plate would be a lot less work. Can you suply some clutch specs? Ie. A series pressure plate or other?

easy peasy fellas
use a standard a-series pressure plate (well hopefully an a-15 heavy duty one)
ring up dellow, fork over $110 and they send you a clutch plate to suit
i had to get a new plate for my dellow conversion celica box just recently
the clutch plate they send out is identical to the one in the a-15 heavy duty kits (PBR), with the centre changed to suit the toyota spigot/input shaft
