yeah i think we're arguing the same point now.

that website you sent me via PM has a lot of quality cars - minus the bling. i'm all for that - they're safe and well thought out.

but the latest meet at castlemaine there was an all steel, oxide red 27 delivery van with a 3in chop. the roof was still TACKED to the body at rather inappropriate centres and you could see daylight thru the gaps. given the vehicle is a full chassis so it shouldn't make a diff what body is there, but that is still WAY outta line.

i saw one car with HALF the bottom of the door rusted out - like so you could see the trim - trying to replicate a worn out salt flats racer with tall thin tyres and sh1tty steel farings.

NSW defines a Street Rod class as ANY pre 1949 vehicle (see page 4) with 4 wheel hydraulic brakes that normally have a full chassis. You also need to be a member of a recognised club.
* You could fit a datsun to a pre 1949 chassis and get it registered but you would first need to find a registered club that would accept the vehicle as a street rod.

I dont believe any of this will weed out the Rat Rod bandwagon hoppers.
How many unregistered vehicles are on the road?
How many rods are seen on the road with no engine covers or wheel guards?
How many www.DATSUN1200.COM members have modified vehicles that are engineered, noted to the RTA and noted to the chosen Compulsory Third Party Insurance Company?


The original idea in the begining of this thread talks of Drag and Circiut racing. Even an unregistered vehicle would have to meet the requirements of the Governing body for the chosen sport.
