hey guys, im planning on selling my 1980 Datsun 1200 ute around christmas 2005 and am wondering if anyone knows how much mine would be worth, ive been told many prices and when i look at the classifieds there all modified utes. My body isnt the straightest but has hardly any rust - just surface i think, stock A12 with 4spd gearbox, recond tailshaft, notsure if they are 12 or 13inch minilites, brand new suspension up front, the interior is ok and overall the cars runs quite well. ive been told 5grand is getting around top dollar, but what is someone willing to pay keeping in mind im NOT selling to around end of year as i need to save up for next car.

If you are in no rush to sell put $1000 more than what you want for the car. This may take longer but you may end up gettin more than you expexted. I would say around $4500ono and try and get $4000 for it.

In classic cars I have seen a "all original, no rust" car advertised for $6500, and a ground up nut and bolt restoration (still all original) for $13,500 but I reckon the bloke with the restored one is living in a dreamworld, with at least $5k too much on it. If yours needs paint but is basically in good nick, then $3500-4500 would be the right kind of money.
But I have seen absolute $hitboxes advetised for $5500 and sell after a couple of weeks, but probably not for that much

yeah well i resprayed it with an original datsun light blue colour a bit over a year ago it was a backyard job which turned out to quite good, it hasnt been buffed properly yet, although it has some "orange peel" on the roof. I dont know much about this "orange peel" im just repeating what the person who sprayed said. I was thinking 5, but is this too much? i was offered 5 on the spot by a fellow datto mate a while ago which i should have taken but ive spent alot of money reconditioning the whole car eve though it doesnt show, i have reconditioned the engine, bought a recond tailshaft, a new bonnet (from wetherall park panels), and tons more. So i hope theres someone out there willing to fork out the cash.

I payed $2200 for mine, basically stock, average body, usual rust. horribly overpriced, but I guess thats supply and demand for ya. From ur description I'd say $4000 would be about right.
