If you want to back the idle down use the carb don't do it using the timing.

20 sounds like to much it should be about 10 to 15 mine runs good at about 12

I was not trying to bring the idle down but I was trying to bring the timing back inline with specs.

I did find a tear in a vac hose off the inlet manifold which fixing that has made a huuge difference, the car is now running more ritcher and is heaps more crisper on the throttle which has made it a heck of a lot more fun to drive.
