left. took a bit of getting used to, to get any sort of finesse (sp?) with the left foot - it was too used to simply pressing pedals to the floor...

yeah first time i tried doing it was a bit sharp and sudden but now its fairly smooth. in the tasmania learner driver book it says they'll fail you if you use your left foot in an auto driving test, but honestly who gets their auto licence?

I have no probs braking with my right in an auto, what gets me is everytime I jump in an auto I go to press the clutch pedal down to start the thing.

Yeah, you should use your right foot.
Otherwise you'll jump back into a manual equipped car, and you risk pushing in the clutch by mistake in an emergency stop situation.

It's not a safe habit to learn. Handy for racing, but dangerous for the street.
