The engine is in & mounted. I am doing a few things at once. I got the wiring pretty much sorted going nuts with diodes. Just need to make sure as there are a few white wires coming from the fuseable links & dont want to fry the computer. I assumed the fat one was the battery live and the small one was to go to the ignition. NO wonder most places want $600 plus for wiring. It is a total mystery unless you get a complete harness. Even with the full wiring diagrams. I have the second relay in for the extra fuel pump too.
Anyway the gear box is giving me curry. I am neatly cutting the tunnel and will re weld it about 10cm higher. If anyone is buying a car specifically for the conversion I would suggest getting an auto. This tunnel fabricating is not much fun. Once the gear box is in it will be time to put on the starter motor and see if it will bump over. I have an intercooler, no radiator yet. I will probably find a n13 pulsar one as it has 2" pipes like the sylvia. I have got a tailshaft yolk but it is notchy as hell so I will take it back. I reckon I will just get a VL commydoor tailshaft and cut it down. The import places want heaps for the skyline or sylvia stuff.
OH yeah the gearbox saga. I have the rb20 back half of box and internals. I have a ca18det bell. I tried to put the ca20 bell but the length of the gear train was too much. So i found the gearbox shop had a smashed ca18 box and used its bell. Is a bit long, & still very fat at the front. But is is still short enough to come up just behind the factory shifter hole. Misses the hand brake easily.
Hey does nyone know the crimson ute in brisbane. His plates are dat079. I pass him every morning going the other way coming back from training. That thing is cool. Dead straight with chrome 15"s.
I also saw a cool 240z out towards the Gap. It had "just wait till you slide it..." and the nissan logo on the back window. pretty funny.
Take it easy crew mely
