Sounds good, You gotta eliminate all the possible causes.
Raising the box further will ultimately reduce the angle of the tailshaft itself and help prevent it hitting the tunnel later on when you lower the ute further.

i dont know what u mean by that... raising the box is going to make everything closer to the top of the tunnel..

but yeah eliminating possible causes is what im trying to do

thanks for the help so far

If you were only to correct the pinion angle itself. ( to the angle I believe is required )The rear of the tailshaft would be high in the tunnel.
Lowering the ute would make it even higher in the tunnel. During suspension travel, it would get even closer.

well guys....

after raising the gearbox a little more... and replacing the worn series 2 box with a reco series 4 rx7 gearbox... the problem improved but did not go away...

after some advice from a bloke with a rotorolla i found that my tailshaft was too short... it had 40mm play in it rather than the 25mm i needed.... with the new tailshaft having the extra length into the gearbox, it has taken up the bit of slop it used to have and rid my ute of the vibration problem...

wish i had noticed that earlier...
and also wish the bloody tailshaft guy would have seen that when it was on his hoist...

anyway im not sure who's stuff up it was becuase i gave him the measurement for the original tailshaft but dont know if that measurement was wrong or the shaft itself becuase i didnt bother to measure it when i got it back (a lesson for us all)

anyway not to worry its all fixed now...
time to get stuck into it and finish it off and have the engineer do his thing...

thanks again to all those who helped with this problem... your help is very much appreciated and i hope i can return the favour......
