so when you go out one morning and ya battery is flat, its going to be a prick to open the bonnet to get to the battery.

well yeah but, ive opened the bonnet without a release before, but i rekon there should be enough go in the battery to open the bonnet, and you can put power through the switch wires if you really have to.

Make up a 3 metre cig lighter to cig lighter jumper cable. Keep it in your "toolkit".
Then if you have a flat battery, you can jumpstart the bonnet release. Chris.

The cig lighter lead sounds like a good idea if the need did arise oneday.
Quote: you can jumpstart the bonnet release The jumpstart bit gives me images of someone trying to crank the car with this and then 2 cars ending up with fried wires. This electric release sure beats half a bonnet cable out the grill like most 1200s

How can you ever break the bonnet release cables twice.
You need to stop eating your weet-bix before you open it.

I added an Automatic Boot Opener on my old 1200, so i didnt have to worry about keys, i just ran a bit of wire around the side of the boot and under the carpet to the edge of the drivers seat with a handle and hey presto pull the handle and the boot opened, lol
