did i mention that we could argue this point till the cows come home?

These discussions are good as both sides have expressed their points and we can normally be enlightened and may see things we could not before.

But FAT14S has failed to convince me and seems to use an easy defence of us not getting the point.

It defies logic to me that one builds a car for attention, to create an attraction and to be proud only to start crying when they get what they wanted - ATTENTION.

I am only 18 and I choose not to hoon but I choose to have a car that I hope attracts attention. Provided I obey the law I am ok. I may get pulled up from time to time for a vehicle check but the police are doing their job. I am more likely in not only their eyes, but most people to have a car that may exceed the rules. A tidy looking standard car is not expected to achieve the attention my car gets.

You just have to sacrifice a few minutes of your time, co-operate with the police and there are no hassles. I get more compliments than trouble from police. If I act the opposite to this in the legality of my driving and vehicle as well as a sub-par attitude, then I expect to be treated differently.

People who cry discrimination are the ones who got caught and cannot take responsibility.

I believe you wrote this in your first post. You support these guys and a few of us do not. I am not getting at you but I merely do not support your view on this topic. You want conversation/discussion - that is what you got.

That first quote also allies you with this boostcruising site. Maybe that is why you got the response you did if you still feel you were personally attacked. Someone who only had "sympathy" for these people would not use "we" etc.

Obviously not legal enough.

Well it all started off on the long weekend in June. Here I was driving along minding my own business and pulled into an area at the Spitt only to have this guy in a Police uniform poke his head in the window and say "park your car there and get out I'm going to inspect it".I'm thinking no worries it's all legal blah blah blah. Doh! Thanks to Mr Pacemaker, their 1&3/4" 4-1 headers for LS1's are to low and cause your car to be defectable under the height rule/law. "You're 85mm at the lowest point, and it needs to be 100mm at the lowest point", says the Policeman from the Hoon squad.

This why modified cars are being checked. They are more likely than others to be pushing the limit. It may be revenue collecting for some things but if you maintain a legal vehicle you will not be contributing to the funds. It is just common sense.

And once again - these people are discriminating themselves. By fitting in to this group of car modifiers we all discriminate ourselves to some extent. Some just do it to a greater extent.

Hi guys
first time to post, i have read most of the replys, up here in Qld, speed doesn't matter when you are racing someone (time trialling), my friends younger brother raced someone on the M1, he backed off at 110kph, and still lost his car.
Street racing and hooning are too different things, i believe. Organized street racing is normally Hoonless, as they attract unwanted attention. and only a couple of cars, i have been with friends that go to Sunnybank on a Thursday night and the amount of cars on the Gateway is a joke. Hoons are a plenty, Same with the Goldy (southport) on a Saturday night, at least there are coppers everywhere which makes everyone act sensible. Hoon stickers will be a trophy for some. We need more race tracks (1/4 mile) closer to Brisbane ie Beenleigh would be perfect, in between the Goldy and Brisbane.

.

the rules quite clearly stipulate "a minimum 100mm ground clearance to any part of the vehicle EXCLUDING the exhaust"

so, it just shows you have to know the rules.

a nasty cop can get you if they feel like it as your wheels are considered a part of the vehicle - so low profiles can get you a sticker unless your tyres are 100mm tall .

so, that SS is quite legal after all.

100mm in Qld includes the exhaust,
they run a ball under your car, if it stops than your too low. Heath

You lost me when you wrote that. I hope it was a joke and an example of some bs you could read on one of those performance forums.
You can get defected if your car is 100mm high and a flat tyre can drop your car 100mm or more. ( not exactly hard when running 195 x 60's )
Nowdays you can ( without approval ) run any size wheel diameter as long as the overall tyre diameter isnt increased by 1 inch more than standard.
ADR's are in place to prevent moving vehicles, from coming in contact with the ground in the event of a flat tyre. Something a low profile tyre is going to reduce chances of.

Anyways I love Boostcruising.com It's hektik.
