PCV solutions on sidedraughts

I have searched and was unable to find suitable crankcase ventilation solutions regarding side draughts. I have installed a small filter to the rocker cover but left the block vent open. The problem is this, at idle you can smell the oil under the bonnet as it vents out the back of the bonnet directly above the heater intake vent. I heard that Nismo/Nissan had a solution, and I was hoping someone could shed some light on the subject. I was hoping to find a non invasive solution.

Some ideas:

1: I saw Dodgemans picture of the mikunis with a balance tube utilised as a pcv intake as well.

2: I have also read about the one way valve with a pipe connected to the collector.

3: Or install a small emission pump and pump the air from the block to the back of the car or into the airfilter.

Any other ideas?

Not the best but still does work is to attach a pipe to the block vent and let it dangle down into the airflow under the car so it creates a vaccume and sucks the vapour out. Alot of older cars used this system. I believe even the datsun 1000 did.

some older ford used to use a oil breater can type setup and then vent the fumes either into the carby intake again (i wouldnt as there flamable fumes) or into the oil cap via a sealed oil cap arangement (they also have an inbuilt pcv valve in the cap).

hi all..
PCV is the hole on the valve cover right??

in my old A12 ,
the tube is connect to the air filter case (round thing), no problem..

in my A15, it comes without an air filter,
and my old filter cant fit..
so i install open pod apexi air filter to it.
now the PCV just a pipe lead to the bottom
no problem also, no smell also.. :)

PCV also positive crankcase vent/valve is the valve on the back of the inlet manifold. It looks like a tap head kind of thing, this leads to the pipe running out of back of the block.
What your're refering to is the oil breather pipe, many (myself also) just piss that pipe off and use a filter. Many would disagree but im sure you could dig up MANY threads about this stuff!

Cant you just make some sort of vent for it? Running it out of the engine bay is the ideal thing im guessin, flameable fumes and spark = bad times

I have decided to go the balance tube way, I found a SR18DE PCV valve is just the right size for the lower breather. At the moment I have hooked it up to just one runner, but I think it makes it run just a little bit lean, so I will try hook it up to either two runners or all four.

Have you seen the catch can system I have? I got a mate to build an aluminium ctach can, with a baffle. Then I ran a hose into the air cleaner. This alowed th motor to consume any crankcase vapors, without any oil/other crap, getting into the intake. Imoptant with a supercharger.

If you haven't seen it, come over and check it out. (bring those mudflaps with you) I'm sure Mike could build you one too.

If I remember, I will call over. I think I'll stick with my idea, crazy I know but the finished product would be much better than a baked bean tin full of oil
