I'll go with idler Arm. When the bushes go completely, the sound can be most disconcerting.

Bingo!

All good guesses.

But yes, it was the Idler Arm bushings. The most odd thing to me is that I did not feel the problem through the steering wheel!

The bushings were good in the usual direction, but the top and bottom part were broken out, I guess when it went up/down it made a double rap (metal on metal).

Anyways, it was only $9 USD for new bushings and very easy to replace: http://www.partsamerica.com

Idler Arm Bushings

The bit marked by yellow is what wore out on my 1200. Thereby causing the infamous double-knock sound when going over bumps.
