i'm aiming for 150 flywheel kW with a lumpy twin cam head on an 10.0:1 A14 bottom end, a TF035HM turbo pushing about 10psi, fuel and ignition management and individual throttles.

and no, i don;t want to hear about 10.0:0 CR and boost. it's all about swirl and squish.

that said, that's a pretty complete A14 in anyone's opinion.

150 flywheel kW out of an A12 with a blow thru weber and not even elec ignition is just...well...not gonna happen.

you also need a lot of torque to run fast times too, power isn't everything. torque is responsible for your performance beyond half track.

to put it nicely your talking ####e......

Mini 1200 n 1300 make about 155-180bhp when turbo charged using the turbo metro su carb....so i dont see why a well put together A12 turbo cannt make atleast 150hp, unless the nissan aseries themselves r worthless

to put it nicely - you're fukcing blind.

i said 150 KILOWATTS - not brake horsepower

150 KILOWATTS is more like 200ish horsepower - or a shade under 210 brake horsepower (if my calcs are correct - i think i got them the wrong way round there).

What I can tell you is that some years ago I built an turbo/ injected/ intercooled A14 that was 'moderate' in its mods and in a B110 on 12 lbs boost cut the quarter mile in 13.7 @ 107 mph on street tyres and in full 'street' trim.
I would estimate that the motor was producing somewhere around 160 hp.
This engine happilly reved to just under 8000rpm although it was peaking at around 7000.
The 107 mph in a V8 would probably get you into 12's.
I do feel that there was a ton of potential left in the car and certainly these days with the benefit of modern water cooled ball bearing turbos, huge intercoolers, decent ignition and computers that allow the accurate mapping of both fuel and spark the car would undoubtably run 12 second quarters.
After looking at what you are intending to use, I think some of the boys have 'delicately' put things into perspective for you, in particular your valve train and operating rev range.
Would you not be best to start with a SU if you are intending to do a draw through, and whilst I'm out of touch with turbos these days is not a T28 a monster for a 1200?
I guess that if back in the heady days of F1 they were able to extract well over 1000hp out of a 1500 cc engine then 200 hp from a 1200 should be possible, however expect your wallet to be lightened big time!
Cheers
Dave

If those pushrod 1400cc sierra renault engines can do 600hp with 48psi in England on R5 GTIs (albeit with the hemi chambered heads) then an a14 with the right work should have the torque of a 4 litre NA engine or more and maybe 250hp.

datsun 1200, 41mm inlets!!!!!! I thought there would be some serious shrouding there!! had to make sure to mentioned what I saw just in case at Dobeys workshop.

Also Ive got a quote for machining an L18 to take C sleeves with 89mm bores for 600 bucks (I can go to 92mm but headgaskets are a problem). Does anyone know if its possible to do the same with an a series. Say 80mm bores?

ATTENTION 120FLY if you are refering to me, I guess its my bad for not putting a big ATTENTION DATSUN120B in my other posts. I have no idea what you think you have proved wrong to me 120fly. So you have made a manifold or 2. Thats great. If you can afford to pay me for my time off work, I would be happy to go to Jambo and see your stuff. I dont understand what it is you are wishing to have proved to me. You gave something ago yourself, and like I have said many a time before, I 100% respect people who get off their arse and give things ago no matter how it turns out.
Here is some pics of manifolds I have made in the past. I have also made many J pipe turbo setups over the last 8 years or so. I am sure if I get a shovel big enough I could dig up some pics of blowthrough stock carbie A12's I have built over the years for customers, all with VG20T turbos with a key feature of big ass anti lag turbine housings. But unless I understand what it is i am ment to be trying to prove you wrong at, I am lost for words
