Hey guys, i've got a 5 speed box from an early 80's sunny on my A12 but I don't know what grade oil to put in. I tried Castrol VMX but it clunks into 2nd & 3rd, in 5th it starts to make noise at 4500 rpm. Any suggestions as to what grade oil to use?

any type of heavy gear oil should work 75W-90, 80W-90, 90W-140, anything heavy like that. I recommend Castrol Synthetic Gear Oil. As for the earlier discussion about engine oils, I think Castrol Syntec 10W-30 works really well, and I even notice more power when I switched from Castrol GTX in my A12. One time I used Mobil 1 Synthetic 0W-30 with a Hard Driver Synthetic oil filter in my '71 Buick Skylark with a 350 ci V-8, it ran really smooth, and after 5,000 miles the oil was still clean when I changed it.
